Nadroga snatched a 24-10 win against a mighty Tailevu in their Skipper Cup fixture at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.
The Stallions drew first blood through the quick hands of Ilikimi Naruma and he converted for a 7-nil lead.
But Tailevu came from behind and gave an immediate response through forwards Osea Qamasea but the conversion failed for the 5-7 margin.
Tailevu lacked in their defence which Nadroga took advantage of and Naruma ran for his second converted try.
A few minutes later, both the sides were reduced to 14 men due to foul play as Nadroga's Aca Simolo and Tailevu’s Poasa Waqanibau went for a 10-minute rest on the naughty chair.
The visitors continued with their smart play and it was Fiji 7s star winger Panapasa Qeruqeru taking a quick tap and chase and pinning the ball down on the try line and also converted for a 21-5 lead at the breather.
Nadroga came with some indiscipline in the second half as Eseroma Rikou saw a yellow card but their heavy defence disallowed Tailevu to pass through.
Jack Volavola stole the show as he added a penalty for Nadroga but Tailevu kept fighting hard and Semi Degei scored the consolation try for the side.
In other matches, Naitasiri thumped Namosi 24-8 and Northland defeated Rewa 20-12.
