Turuva is a future star, says Kamikamica

Vodafone Fiji Bati prop Tui Kamikamica has labeled upcoming fullback Sunia Turuva as a future household name.

The Penrith Panthers young find was the star for his side with a number of try saving tackles, his composure under the high ball and scoring two tries during the Bati’s 24-14 Pacific Test loss to the Papua New Guinea Kumuls.

"To see a fullback doing stuff like that, it gave us a lot of confidence, he's going to be a very good player in the future," Kamikamica said in the post-match interview.

"He saved a couple of tries there, he was always putting his body on the line for us.

"Tonight we were always confident he was going to catch the high balls even though there were people contesting for the ball.

Bati coach Joe Rabele echoed similar sentiments

"Today was his first game for Fiji Bati," he said.

"The way he was catching balls from the back and running the kick returns, it was amazing to see him play the way he did today."

"I was very impressed."

Turuva was Fiji's best player of the match recording the highest statisticis with the most runs totaling 252 metres and 97 post contact metres with his two tries.

Turuva is contracted with Penrith until 2024, and is yet to make his National Rugby League debut.
