Leweniqila to lead Fijiana's campaign

8 cap veteran Sereima Leweniqila will lead Fijiana’s campaign in the 2022 World Cup in New Zealand next month.

Leweniqila, 32, is one of the most senior players in the team and has played in nearly all test matches and qualifiers for Fiji since 2016.

“She has been one of the stand-out players and she had played a lot of games for Fijiana and that’s one of the reasons why we have decided her to be the captain and she got the backing of the senior players” said Coach Senirusi Seruvakula.

The team departs for New Zealand on Sunday and will open its World Cup campaign against England on 8 October at 4.45pm at the famous Eden Park in Auckland.
