Tavatavanawai retains Moana spot

Fiji-born flyer Timoci Tavatavanawai has retained his spot in the Moana Pasifika squad for the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season after an impressive performance this year.
 
The Naikawaga villager from Namara in Tailevu finished the 2022 season with 57 defenders beaten in 8 games, the most out of every player in DHL Super Rugby Pacific.
 
His explosive performance saw him put pen to paper for a one-year deal in September.
 
Meanwhile, Moana Pasifika has assembled an exciting and consistent team with 38 of the 39 contracted players capped during their inaugural year in the competition.
 
The squad boasts an impressive 26 players with international rugby experience for Pacific Island powerhouses Manu Samoa and ‘Ikale Tahi.
 
The addition of Wallaby veterans Sekope Kepu and Christian Leali’ifano boost the international player tally to 28.
 
Headlining the five new signings in the 2023 squad are Samoa-based loose forward, Miracle Fai’ilagi, Otago’s Abraham Pole, Manu Samoa first five eighth D’Angelo Leuila, Tasman Mako lock Mahonri Ngakuru and North Harbour loose forward Michael Curry.
 
Moana Pasifika begins their 2023 Super Rugby Pacific campaign on 25 February against the Fijian Drua in a match that has been dubbed the Battle of the Pacific.
