Stallions return to Fiji FACT with high hopes

Nadroga Stallions are hoping for a strong show at this week’s Fiji FACT in Labasa, re-entering the tournament after a four-year hiatus.

In an interview with FijiLive, Nadroga Football Association’s President Max Chetty acknowledged the high expectations from fans after Nadroga’s four-year absence from the Fiji FACT and said the stallions will do their best not to upset.

“We have a tough pool. Whenever Nadi is in a pool, it’s always challenging, just like with Ba and Lautoka,” said Chetty.

He said that while Nadroga has seen some good results against these teams in DFPL matches, they anticipate a tougher challenge at the Fiji FACT.

The team has been focusing heavily on defensive improvements since the beginning of the year.

“Our main focus has been on improving defense; our coach Varun Karan and Technical Adviser Kamal Swamy have been working tirelessly on that. Secondly, we need combination in our team, that’s also one area we have been tying to improve on for the past few weeks in Lawaqa park,” Chetty explained.

The team faced a setback when Jone Ralumu, who was originally included in the 22-member squad, suffered an injury.

However, the team officials were able to bring in Yash Kumar from their 30-member extended squad to fill in the spot.
