Task force handles Sayed-Khaiyum’s case

A task force has been set up to handle the case of the former Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

The task force will work under the directions of the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department.

This has been confirmed by the Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, Assistant Commissioner of Police Surend Sami.

He said the process of getting statements and necessary evidence continues by the investigators and once the process is completed then the next course of action will be taken.

ACP Sami said they do not want to pressure the investigators and must allow them to conduct their work thoroughly.

Sayed-Khaiyum is currently under investigation regarding a case of alleged incitement of communal antagonism.

A border alert was issued by the Criminal Investigations Department after Sayed-Khaiyum’s travel history showed that he departed Fiji on 26 December 2022.
