Rugby Australia has confirmed the venue for the 2023 Super W Grand Final which will be played at Townsville’s Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
The game will be played as part of a doubleheader on May 6 with the Queensland Reds set to face the NSW Waratahs.
It will be the first time the game will be hosted in Queensland after the 2022 edition was played at AAMI Park in Melbourne as part of Super Round.
“Rugby Australia is delighted to be taking the Buildcorp Super W Final to Townsville,” said Rugby Australia chief executive Andy Marinos.
“It is an opportunity to take the pinnacle match of women’s club Rugby in Australia to a regional centre, and broaden the reach of the sport.”
“Queensland Rugby Union has shown tremendous foresight in expanding Rugby’s reach across the state, and I am sure that this double-header will only continue that trend.”
Queensland Reds Chief executive Dave Hanham was excited at the prospect of the team playing a final in front of a home crowd, having missed April’s Final for the first time as Fijiana Drua claimed the title in their first year.
