Tuatua man charged over MPAISA scam

A 28-year-old man from Tuatua, Labasa will be produced at the Labasa Magistrates Court today charged with a case of allegedly dishonestly obtaining money through the MPAISA app.

The accused was charged by the Fiji Police MPaisa Task Force.

It is alleged that on the 2nd day of January 2023, the victim was contacted and told that the receipt number was mistakenly sent to her and if she could send it back.

The victim said she had accidentally sent her OTP number as well, whereby the $457 was transferred and withdrawn by the accused.

The matter was reported at the Labasa Police Station after the victim received a message stating the money had been successfully sent from her mobile money transfer app.

The accused has been charged with one count of Obtaining Financial Advantage.
