Fans can expect to see Fiji 7s dual Olympic Games gold medalist and veteran Jerry Tuwai back on the pitch this season.
The jewel of Fiji 7s who had predominately taken a more technical role in coach Ben Gollings’ first year at the helm has been leading the charge at their training sessions in Sigatoka and is expected to return to the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series circuit.
“Jerry has been in training and is pushing for a spot in Hamilton and Sydney,” said Gollings.
“Jerry just does Jerry things, and it is great to see how the players react around him.”
If given the nod Tuwai is expected to add more depth in halves as well as help captain Waisea Nacuqu and young Army playmaker Pilipo Bukayaro reignite the Fiji attack after a dismal Dubai and Cape Town 7s.
Meanwhile, Napolioni Bolaca is still nursing an injury but will be an extra boost to the side’s offence when he returns to match fitness.
The Hamilton 7s will be held on January 21 and 22 in New Zealand.
