Whippy to officiate in India

International Boxing Association (IBA) has appointed former Fijian Amateur boxing Administrator Seru Whippy as Referee and Judge at the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship in India next month.

Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports Rovereto Nayacalevu confirmed this while officiating at the National Amateur Boxing Championships held at the Stan Brown gym, in Walu Bay, Suva over the weekend.

Nayacalevu said the Government wants to continue working with the National Sports Commission and FABA in taking the sport back to its glory days where Fiji stood tall in the region.

“Australia has been home to Mr. Whippy and family for the last 20 years; however, he remains registered with FABA under IBA with the rest of our officials and boxers,” Nayacalevu said.

He also urged the boxers to continue supporting the sport and assisting those who are helping it to expand.

The IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship will be held from March 14th-26th in New Delhi.
