FSC conducts review of venue use rates

The Fiji Sports Council is currently conducting a comprehensive review of all its venue use rates.

Chairman Gilbert Vakalalabure said the review aims to strike a balance between offering competitive rates that attract local organisations and accommodating international events that elevate Fiji’s profile while considering the financial sustainability of the Council’s operations.

“This review is significant in aligning our services with the needs of our valued clientele. As an organisation responsible for venue management, we are committed to promoting sports development, fostering inclusivity, and encouraging healthy competition across venues,” Vakalalabure said in a statement.

He explained the council recognises the importance that its venues mean to its patrons for sporting events, tournaments, and community activities, as well as the demand for event venues.

“This review exercise aims to ensure equitable and sustainable pricing structures that cater to the diverse needs of athletes, organisers, and enthusiasts, who use Fiji Sports Council venues.”

“Two of our venues – Damodar City Aquatic Centre and National Hockey Centre, that have been under refurbishment since April 2022, will become operational soon, and we anticipate that we establish our venue use rates before the two sites reopen for use by National Sporting Organisations and members of the public.”
