Kolinisau focuses on quicker play reaction

Fiji Airways Fiji 7s Head Coach Osea Kolinisau stresses the need to boost the team’s fitness and reaction speeds to elevate their game.

“We’re working hard on our reaction and to do that we need to work on our fitness because we’re trying to amp up the game,” Kolinisau explained while identifying fitness as a crucial element in meeting the game’s tempo.

The team’s focus has been on addressing key weaknesses, with fitness, tackling, and kickoffs being the primary concerns.

“Other teams are targeting that because they know if they give Fiji the possession, Fiji will be able to figure out something and score,” he said.

“I’m happy with the boys but there are still some improvements to make.”

Kolinisau pointed out that while the players understand their roles, the execution, particularly in terms of speed of reaction and defensive communication, needs to be faster.

“Boys know what to do but they’re reacting slowly so that’s what we’re going to talk about especially on our communication and defense as well,” he said.
