Champions Lautoka will be rotating its squad for today’s Digicel Fiji Premier League opener against Nasinu due to the absence of several key players.
Speaking to FijiLive, Lautoka Football Association President Shalendra Prasad disclosed that goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinqara has returned to New Zealand, while Muni Shivam Naidu, Afraaz Ali, and Sterling Vasconcellos have traveled to Auckland to participate in the NZFFI Battle of the Giants tournament, rendering them unavailable for today’s match.
Additionally, Saula Waqa is sidelined for two weeks due to a red card received in the previous game against Rewa in the OFC National Playoffs, coupled with back injuries.
“With these players gone, there are other players who were on the match, can now prove themselves,” said Prasad.
“We could not get a proper ground for training, so now it’s up to the players on how they perform in today’s game.”
Lautoka is scheduled to take on Nasinu at 11am today at the Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour.
