NTC calls for enhanced awareness initiatives

The Nasinu Town Council has issued a fervent plea to law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in eradicating the drug epidemic plaguing the community.

Amid escalating concerns over the proliferation of illicit substances, the Council emphasises the urgent need for tougher actions and enhanced awareness initiatives to safeguard the neighbourhoods.

With drug-related incidents on the rise, the Council underscores the imperative for
proactive collaboration among residents, law enforcement, and community leaders.

“We cannot afford to be passive spectators in the face of such a grave threat to our society”, remarked Special Administrator Chairman Felix Magnus.

He calls upon all residents to play an active role in combating the drug trade by promptly
reporting any suspicious activities or individuals engaged in drug peddling within their vicinity.

This collective vigilance,  Magnus asserts, is paramount in curbing the spread of narcotics and protecting the well-being of our communities.

Furthermore, he implores religious leaders to utilise their platforms to address the scourge of drugs, emphasising the pivotal role of faith-based institutions in fostering awareness and moral guidance.

“Our churches serve as beacons of hope and moral fortitude, and we urge our esteemed
clergy to champion the cause against drug abuse from their pulpits.”

In addition to engaging religious institutions, the Council calls upon school leaders to prioritise drug education and prevention efforts within educational settings.

By integrating anti-drug curriculum and fostering open dialogue with students and parents, schools can serve as vital bastions in nurturing a drug-free generation.

“We cannot afford complacency in the war against drugs, our children’s lives and their future should be paramount.”

“Action must transcend rhetoric, and together, we must redouble our efforts to rid our communities of this insidious menace.”
