Second straight defeat for DFPL champs

Defending champions Lautoka suffered their second straight defeat in the Digicel Fiji Premier League today, losing 2-1 to Labasa in an away Round 4 fixture at Subrail Park.

The Babs Khan coached side also lost 4-3 to Nadroga in the last round.

Experienced striker Christopher Wasasala’s strike gave the hosts a 1-0 halftime lead.

Ilimotama Jese managed to level the scores midway in the second spell before youngster Salimone Ravonakula came off the bench and became the hero for the Babsiga Lions.

Top striker Sairusi Nalaubu was sent off in the encounter after copping two yellow cards.

Goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau’s heroics late in the match denied Lautoka the chance to snatch an equaliser as he daringly saved a penalty.

Extra Supermarket Labasa now has 5 points from three appearances while Lautoka has 4 points from four outings.
