DPM Prasad referred to FICAC for investigation

The Fijian Election Office has referred a complaint lodged against the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.

The complaint alleges that Prof Prasad for false and non-declaration of assets, breaching the Political Parties Act 2014.

The complaint was lodged last month whereby the Acting Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa had directed her team to assess the complaint and evidence presented.

It is understood that the Fijian Elections Office referred the matter to FICAC, and in acknowledging the complaint, FICAC Acting Deputy Commissioner Francis Pulewai said that they indicated to assessment of the complaint to determine the next course of action.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance has yet to comment on the matter.
