Lenaitasi Duru says that he is still the General Secretary of the Social Democratic Liberal Party.
In an exclusive interview with FijiLive, he said that he is now retracting his resignation letter that was handed in yesterday.
Duru said he owed it to the people of Fiji to stay on and make sure the Party compiles with its constitution, based on the decision taken yesterday made by the board.
“I think I need to stay back to make sure that nobody plays around with the rules and regulations that are in place.”
He also said that the board did not accept his resignation yesterday.
“It should have been accepted yesterday, but the board didn’t. On top of that, the Management Board was unconstitutional as well. They had no power to receive it anyway.”
“So that means that my resignation yesterday was meaningless. I am still the General Secretary,” he added.
