The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has sanctioned the charges against a 32-year-old man of Naleba, Labasa for the alleged murder of a 28-year-old man in Waisali, Savusavu.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime (ACP) Mesake Waqa said the accused will be produced at the Labasa Magistrates Court today.
ACP Waqa has acknowledged with sincere gratitude the support of members of the public in cooperating with investigators through the quick sharing of information.
He said that members of the Waisali community and those from nearby villages were quick to assist investigators, resulting in the arrest of the accused.
Business communities in the Savusavu area have also been acknowledged for assisting investigators through the sharing of information.
ACP Waqa said those who willingly came forward with information during the investigation, together with the reporting of suspicious activities at any time to the Police were strongly encouraged, as it could assist in preventing the commission of a crime.
He reiterates the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew’s assurances of the Fiji Police Force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Fijians and visitors to our shores.
