MOH issues recall on BP tablets, urgent health checks for consumer

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has issued a recall of the listed batches of Ray ENAP-10 Enalapril Maleate 10mg tablets and Ray ENAP-5 Enalapril Maleate 5mg tablets and for patients who have consumed them to seek medical review

The medication is prescribed for patients diagnosed with hypertension.

“If you have used this product, or if someone has suffered an adverse event after using this product, you are advised to seek medical advice from a qualified healthcare professional and report the incident to the Medicines Regulatory Authority.” Chief Pharmacist, Ilisabeta Pesamino said.

The listed batches are Ray ENAP-10 Enalapril Maleate 10mg tablets REBT2301 with an expiry date of 31st January 2026 and Ray ENAP-5 Enalapril Maleate 5mg tablets REAT231 with an expiry date of 31st January 2026.

Pesamino said they had received test results for batches of these products, which had been sent to the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Lab. For both batches, the average amount was below the required standard.

She has advised pharmacists: “If you have this product in stock, do not dispense it and remove it from the shelves as soon as possible.”

Pesamino is also calling on wholesalers and retailers to cease distribution immediately and that they need to recall affected stock for disposal.
