Qiliho’s contract to be terminated

Suspended Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho’s contract will cease after the High Court overturned the decision of the Magistrates Court to convict him and former Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday.

This was highlighted by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka when approached by the media outside Parliament yesterday afternoon.

He said Qiliho will also stop receiving his pay.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that the position will be advertised as soon as his conviction is entered next week.

Qiliho has been found guilty of one count of abuse of office.

He on the 15th of July, 2020 as the Police Commissioner directed the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department, Serupepeli Neiko and Inspector Reshmi Dass to stop investigations into a Police complaint by the USP, in the abuse of the authority of his office, which was an arbitrary act prejudicial to the rights of USP.
