Funahashi makes golden memories at Cokes

Jasper High School student Hina Funahashi said she would return to her home country with fond memories after claiming gold in her final 2023 Coca-Cola Games at the HFC Bank Stadium today.

Funahashi defended her senior girls 1500m gold medal from last year with a time of 5 minutes and 14.96 seconds.

“It was a good run, I tried to better my time from last year, but it was less, abit slower” Funahashi said.

The Japanese national returns home to Japan after completing her studies this year said she would take good memories back home.

“It has been a memorable event, and I will take back very good memories.

Meanwhile Alefina Volavola of Mahatma Ghandi Memorial School claimed the silver medal with a time of 5.21.91 and Veniana Tuiloma of Vunisea Secondary School claimed the bronze medal with a time of 5.35.12.
