Suva shifts focus to NCC

Suva football has shifted its focus on the upcoming National Club Championship (NCC) after their 1-nil loss to Ba in the semi-final of the 2022 Pacific Community Cup in Nadi over the weekend.

Fiji FACT and IDC winning Coach Babs Khan pointed out the major improvements the side will need to make before the 2023 football season kick starts.

“I think our attitude and discipline need to change. It was an easy game but we lost to Ba.”

“I think the boys did not take the game seriously but it’s all part of football and after a long break we played a tournament.”

“Of course, a lot of learning from this tournament and it was also a good experience playing against the overseas teams. They gave us a good time and we learned some new things about football from them.”

“NCC is next for us and we really want to do good in that because we want to end the year on a high note.”

“I think NCC will give us an idea of what to expect in the 2023 season because the district-level players separate for club games and the best club from the district league qualifies for NCC.”

“It’s going to give the players game time and also keep them in shape and we will be having a new team in the next season so our preparations must continue,” Khan said.
