All polling stations operational: Saneem

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem has confirmed that all polling stations around the country are open and operational.

“At 9 O’clock this morning, I am pleased to report that all polling stations around the country are open and fully operational,” Saneem said.

Saneem, while reiterating the Electoral Commission’s message to all Fijians to cast their vote, has reminded people that the polling stations will close at 6 pm after the last voter in the queue has voted.

“As you can see, it is indeed a beautiful Wednesday morning. And as such we encourage all voters who have not left home yet and are waiting for my briefing to please make your way to the polling stations. You can come here to vote. Feel free, and secure and you can cast your vote as you wish.”

“I reiterate that the Electoral Commission stated earlier that the general election will be a platform for Fijians to exercise their confidence, security and freedom. And as such, today is the time when voters can come out in numbers and cast their ballots in a conducive environment in a very convenient manner.”

“It takes you about a minute inside the polling station. So don’t be discouraged. Once again, if you have not left home yet. Get an umbrella, water bottle, voter card or text your number to 1500. Get on the free public transport and make your way to vote.”

“We look forward to seeing you there. Get out Fiji, come and vote, make your vote count. Today is the day you exercise your rights under the Constitution,” he added.
