First timer exercises his right

Long queue at the USP Statham Campus did not deter 20-year-old Lemeki Botitu from casting his vote for the first time today.

The cousin brother of Olympian and Flying Fijians utility back Vilimoni Botitu told FijiLive that instead of walking away from the long line in the humid weather, he was content to make his vote count.

“It’s my first time to come and vote here. When I came the line was long. I waited for a long time for my turn to come.”

“It was tough because of the heat but I’m happy that I have voted.”

“My family encouraged me as a youth to vote and voice out my opinion.”

“I’m happy of the facilities here and it’s good to see that officers are assisting us.”

The Fiji National University maritime student also encouraged the youths to exercise their right today.

“I have done my part as a youth and I think those who have not still have time to.”

“They should also vote and voice out their opinion on what they think and the future they want.”

“The queue can be long but if, I can wait then I’m sure you can also wait for a few minutes.”

The 2022 General Election polling ends at 6 pm today.
