Wife killer’s case transferred to High Court

The case of a 27-year-old man who is alleged to have murdered his 25-year-old wife at an apartment complex in Suva last Thursday has been transferred to the High Court as it is an indictable offence, according to Section 191 of the Criminal Procedures Act.

The accused, Apisai Madigibuli appeared before Resident-Magistrate Jeremaia Savou in the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon charged with the murder of his wife Kitiana Baravilala.

Police Prosecution served the accused full disclosures; however, when asked whether they are also serving the deceased post-mortem results, they said that they would do so at the next mention date.

Madigibuli told the Court that he would seek Legal Aid assistance.

He has been remanded and the matter has been adjourned to 14 May and will be called in the Suva High Court.
