NDP consultations continue this week

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad says his Ministry will continue with the nationwide public consultation on the new three year, five year and 20-year National Development plan in the Central, Western and Northern Divisions this week.

Prof Prasad said the programme for Eastern Division meetings are yet to be confirmed.

He said a team from the Ministry of Finance is traveling around the country since 14 February 2024 to gather the views and feedback of people on the development objectives, strategies and programmes outlined in the draft plan and also seek views and inputs of Fijians on the development priorities for the next short and long term Strategic Development Plans.

Twelve (12) public consultation meetings are planned for today, Monday, 19 February 2024 as follows:

Central Division (4 meetings)

  • Kalokolevu Village Hall – 9.00am to 11.00am
  • Muaivuso Village Hall – 9.00am to 11.00am
  • Qauia Village Hall – 3.00pm to 5.00pm
  • Lami Parish Hall – 6.00pm to 8.00pm

Western Division (4 meetings)

  • Nawaka Village Hall – 11.00am to 1.00pm
  • Yavuna Village – 2.00pm to 4.00pm
  • Mulomulo Primary School – 5.00pm to 7.00pm
  • Malolo Transmitter Junction – 7.30pm to 8.30pm

Northern Division (4 meetings)

  • Nakawakawa Village Hall, Wainunu, Bua – 10.00am to 12.00pm
  • Nasavu Community Hall, Nadi, Bua – 10.00am to 12.00pm
  • Adi Eleni Primary School, Wainunu, Bua – 2.00pm to 4.00pm
  • Baravi Primary School, Nadi, Bua – 2.00pm to 4.00pm

The Head of Strategic Planning Office within Ministry of Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics Kamal Krishnan Gounder, said that these consultations serve as a crucial platform for community voices to be heard, informing the formulation of policies and strategies within the new National Development Plan.

Gounder said that the Ministry acknowledges the valuable input by citizens across Fiji and reaffirms its commitment to addressing the identified priorities for sustainable and inclusive development.
