Chinese Embassy donates $20k to Fiji Basketball

The Chinese Embassy has donated $20,000 to Basketball Fiji to help prepare for the upcoming Asia Cup Tier 2 competition and to promote the sport across the nation.

This donation continues the embassy’s support, which last year helped Fiji’s basketball teams win medals at the Pacific Games.

Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian, during the presentation said that the funds would help both the national teams and school-level competitions.

Basketball Fiji’s President Ioane Naivalurua thanked the embassy for their ongoing support, which he credited for past successes and for helping to expand basketball in Fiji.

The funds are set to aid in preparing the Fiji men’s basketball team for the Asia Cup, hosted in China next year.
