Sigatoka woman charged by MPaisa Taskforce

The Fiji Police Force’s Mpaisa Taskforce today arrested and charged a 44-year-old woman of Yavulo, Sigatoka for unlawfully obtaining money meant for Back to School Education Assistance from a member of the public through the Mpaisa platform.

Laisani Toni Batirerega was with four counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage and one count Possession of Property Suspected to being Proceeds of Crime and fronted the Magistrates Court in Sigatoka.

She has been granted bail with two sureties and a bail bond of $2,000.00.

Batirerega has been ordered by the Court to surrender her travelling documents.

She will reappear on 9 March 2024 and has been advised to engage the services of a Legal Aid lawyer.
