All schools will be closed today due to the heavy continuous rainfall across the country.
Landslides have been reported in some areas while some roads leading to schools are inaccessible.
Disruptions to water, public transport, electrical services and blocked drains will also affect the country and the Permanent Secretary for Education in consultation with the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) has announced the closure of all schools.
Schools are also being activated as evacuation centres and the Fiji Police is closely monitoring the situation.
The predicted heavy rainfall will also lead to rough seas and difficulty in moving around.
Heads of Schools are expected to keep in contact with the District and Divisional Education Offices.
