Aust A crowned CC7s Women’s champion

Australia A team are the new champions of the McDonald’s Coral Coast Sevens after beating former holders Seahawks 28-5 in the Women’s final at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka today.

The Seahawks applied all the pressure but was met by the Australians strong defence.

Lily Dick scored the first points of the final with halfback Natalie Wright adding the conversion.

Both teams were matched but the Aussie attempt to pile on more points was thwarted by the staunch defence of Seahawks flyer Louisa Tabuilagi.

Seahawks and Fijiana 7s playmaker Ana Maria Roqica scored a try to get the side within two points at halftime.

Australia doubled their lead almost immediately at the restart with quick hands to the edge finding Bienne Terita who raced away untouched under the sticks with Wright converting.

Terita got a brace in just as many minutes as the title holders were left scrambling in the face of superior odds.

She closed off the tournament with a final try completing the hat-trick to seal the win.
