The Suva Magistrates Court has refused bail for a former supermarket cashier charged with 91 counts of theft after she failed to post a cash bond of $2000.
24-year-old Talei Siteri Bola told the Court that she would be able to pay the cash bond by next week; however, Resident Magistrate Krishnan Prasad gave her 14 days to post her cash bond.
The full 91 counts were read and understood by the accused.
The Court also ordered Police Prosecution to amend charges 75 and 77 on the charge sheet as it does not show what the accused is charged with.
The Prosecution asked for 14 days to amend the charges.
The Court was also informed that the accused has pending matters with the same company and further charges are expected to be laid.
Also, the accused was served full phase of disclosures.
Bola is alleged to have between October 2021 till September 2022 committed the offences, whilst employed as a supermarket in Nabua.
In October 2021, she was provided with a Point of Sale Station login, where she allegedly created her password and conducted the transactions.
On 23 September 2022, an audit led to the discovery of more than $46,000 allegedly misappropriated by the accused, where she stole cash and assorted groceries from the shop through quotes for her personal use.
The matter has been adjourned to 16 May for bail hearing.
