Head Coach Moses Rauluni says the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua women played with guts and sheer effort which were key in securing a 32-21 victory in their Super W opener against the Reds today.
Rauluni lauded the team’s resilience while pinpointing areas for improvement and the need to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
“Queensland fought till the end, I think we missed a lot of opportunities to score more points but I am happy, we’ll build on this and get better and better for the game next week.”
“Big thing is that we need to look at the field position and play the game right, our defense was held up pretty well, there’s a few areas we’ll need to improve for the waratahs game,” he said.
Rauluni also praised the team’s set pieces and scrums, which effectively challenged the traditionally strong Queensland Reds.
“I am very happy with the set pieces and the line out, a was a bit worried a few times but the scrums were solid and really pressured the Queensland Reds scrum which has been pretty solid for the last couple of years,” he added.
Fijian Drua Women will face the Waratahs in Churchill Park Lautoka on Saturday in their next match.
