Fiji U20 crowned CC7s Youth champs

The Fiji U20 claimed the McDonald’s Coral Coast Sevens Youth Division beating PSM Ablaze Brothers in a thriller 12-10 at Lawaqa Park today.

Fiji fought hard into the final whistle against the Nasama Village based outfit who had bundled the Australia School Boys out of the tournament during the semifinal.

Manieta Vonovono scored Fiji’s first try of the match which was converted by Ilaisa Vereti.

There was no love lost from both sides with neither wanting to give an inch.

The challengers kept themselves in the fight with Iliesa Ratubalavu breaking through a number of tackles to cross over and score on the stroke of half-time.

The Ablaze Brothers came firing in the second half, as numerous breaks kept Fiji backpedaling.

Amino Nasalo Koroivula raced awayto score under the sticks with Ratubalavu converting to give them the lead for the first time in the game.

Fiji kept their composure to the final minute and scored through Vereti to win.
