Lautoka claimed a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Flick Suva in a thrilling Round 8 encounter of the Digicel Fiji Premier League at the Fiji FA headquarters in Vatuwaqa today.
Skipper Sitiveni Cavuilagi quickly put Lautoka in the lead with a goal in the 6th minute, followed by Sakaraia Naisua who extended the scores to 2-0 in the 11th minute.
Despite Suva creating several scoring opportunities, they struggled to convert these into goals.
Suva’s persistence paid off in the 19th minute when Merril Nand scored, narrowing the gap to 2-1.
However, Cavuilagi was quick to respond with his second goal of the match in the 24th minute, extending Lautoka’s lead to 3-1 by halftime.
In the second half, Suva’s Dave Radrigai further closed the gap, successfully converting a penalty to make it 3-2.
Nonetheless, Muni Shivam Naidu sealed the deal for Lautoka with a spectacular free-kick goal from outside the box giving goalkeeper Hasmukh Patel no chance at all.
