Fijiana undeterred by recent challenges

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team, undeterred by recent challenges and scrutiny over its performance is preparing for a determined showing at the upcoming Hong Kong and Singapore 7s.

Head Coach Saiasi Fuli spoke on the team’s resilience and strategy to bounce back by rotating squad members and aiming for qualification in Madrid.

Currently holding the 7th position with 42 points, Fijiana is in a crucial fight for a top-eight spot.

“It has been a difficult period coming back from LA and Vancouver, sometimes we face those kind of situations but that is our job as management to bounce back strongly and just continue to bounce back strongly,” he remarked.

“It’s part of the journey, we have to go through some difficult phases and that is our job as coaches, not to back down, stay composed and continue to work hard and smart.”

Despite facing scrutiny over recent performances and dealing with key player injuries, Fuli and his coaching staff are steadfast in their commitment to the team’s progress.

“People will be questioning the loss of form, the none performance for us as coaches and management. We feel that we are tested, we lost some of our key players to injuries but we have to continue the journey and continue the fight with the current squad,” said Fuli.

The Fijiana 7s team is scheduled to face Australia at 4.25pm on 5 April, South Africa at 7.12pm, and Ireland at 3.02pm on 6 April.
