Heavy Rain Alert cancelled as trough weakens

The Heavy Rain Alert previously in force for the Fiji group is now cancelled.

The Fiji Meteorological Service’s day shift forecaster Sownal Chand said  a weakening trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the southwest of Viti Levu.

He said it is expected to further weaken and dissipate from later tomorrow.

“With the current set up, we might expect isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls expected over the eastern parts of Viti Levu, Lau and Lomaiviti groups and southern Vanua Levu.”

Localised heavy falls may still lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
