Fiji’s Cruiserweight title is now vacant, following the Boxing Commission of Fiji’s decision to strip it off Alifereti Kauyaca over the use of unauthorised hand wraps in his bout against Joseph Kwadjo in Suva early this month.
BCF Chair, Adi Narayan while confirming this in a media conference today said Kauyaca upon inspection by BCF officials before the fight was told to unwrap and a new set of wraps was given to him.
He also clarified that the boxer did not use the banned wraps in the ring while fighting Kwadjo.
Narayan said they looked at a filed complaint yesterday and officials deliberated thoroughly before reaching the decision which has been relayed to Kauyaca.
The chairman also confirmed that no suspension has been slapped on the boxer and Kauyaca and Kwadjo can fight again for the title if they are able to secure a promoter to stage their bout.
Kauyaca had beaten Kwadjo on points during the main bout of the Bluewater Promotions on 2 March.
