Labasa man charged over Mpaisa fraud

The Fiji Police Force’s MPaisa Taskforce has arrested and charged a 21-year-old man from Lajonia, Labasa for dishonestly obtaining cash via the mobile money transfer service.

The accused is alleged to have on 20 October 2023, dishonestly obtained money in relation to a Facebook advertisement selling an iPhone 6 for $300 on the Buy and Sell page.

When the victim tried to follow up on the status of payment made, the accused allegedly blocked all forms of communication.

He will be produced in the Labasa Magistrates Court tomorrow.
