Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Salote Panapasa is reaching out to the members of the public to assist the authorities in the apprehension of Seveci Navakasai, a 30-year-old inmate who escaped from custody eight days ago.
Panapasa said search operations for the escaped inmate continues.
“This escaped convict poses a danger to the public as he is a habitual burglar currently serving a sentence for burglary and theft.
“And the biggest challenge and issue faced by the personnel who are conducting the search operations for the escaped inmate is the community members/villagers who are actually helping him escape, hiding and harboring the inmate.”
“They are also providing the escapee with necessities while refusing/failing to inform the relevant authorities.”
A team from the FCS is currently working with the Fiji Police Force in the search operations.
“The circulated picture was taken when the escapee was admitted, and currently, he will be spotting a beard and more hair. He has managed to break the handcuff chain link, but the cuff is still attached to his right wrist.
Those who have any information can call the Police or Crime Stoppers on 919/ 917 or the FCS on 9905095/ 9905205 regarding Navakasai’s whereabouts as he is a threat to society.
