The former Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports, Alipate Tuicolo, is the likely candidate to replace the vacant parliamentary seat of the former Opposition Member of Parliament, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
This is after the Leader of Opposition, Voreqe Bainimarama, announced Sayed-Khaiyum as his nominee to the Constitutional Offices Commission last night.
Tuicolo received 590 votes in the 2022 General Election.
Bainimarama said that he and Sayed-Khaiyum together would provide the best representation to the Constitutional Offices Commission – where they hope to highlight the anomalies that have already commenced and defend the Constitutional appointment and of course the Constitution.
