Volavola scores in Toulon beatdown

Flying Fijians pivot Ben Volavola scored a late try in Racing 92’s 31-14 win over Toulon in the French Top 14 at Stade Mayol this morning.

Jiuta Wainiqolo’s side struggled to contain their more clinical visitors.

Racing led 9-6 at the break with neither side able to cross the line in the first 40 minutes.

Toulon scrum-half Baptiste Serin and his opposite Antoine Gilbert traded penalty kicks throughout the first half.

Racing ran in tries through Olivier Klemenczak, Volavola and Teddy Iribaren who put on a masterful performance with the side’s third try, two conversions and a penalty.

Toulon managed a lone consolation try through Georgian prop, Beka Gigashvili.
