NZ invitational and national men’s for Pearls build-up

The Fiji Pearls will feature in a three-day intensive training regime with matches against a New Zealand invitational and the Fiji Men’s team in the build-up towards the Netball World Cup in South Africa.

The Fiji Pearls will split into two teams from the extended squad while the New Zealand invitational team consists mainly of players from the Central Pulse squad.

Netball Fiji chief executive Vivian Koster emphasised the importance of these training sessions at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva in preparing the players for the World Cup.

“It is crucial for our players to get more game time and exposure before the World Cup,” Koster stated.

“This is our second training series of the year leading up to the tournament, with the first one taking place in March against the Fiji Men’s team.”

The training matches aim to provide valuable experience and playing time for the players, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

“The idea is to prepare our players thoroughly ahead of the World Cup and give them the best chance to succeed.”

The first match of the training series saw the Fiji Pearls Team A going head-to-head against the New Zealand selection at 2:30pm following Fiji Pearls Team B taking on the Fiji Men’s team at 4.30pm.

On Wednesday, Fiji Pearls Team B will face the New Zealand selection at 4:30pm, while Team A will take on the Fiji Men’s team at 6:30pm.

On Thursday, Fiji Pearls Team A will compete against Team B at 2:30pm while the Fiji Men’s team takes on the New Zealand selection at 4:25pm.

The World Cup will kick start on 28 July in Cape Town.
