Kumar acknowledges retiring teachers

Education Minister Premila Kumar has commended the work of 40 retiring teachers who officially ended their career last week.

Kumar also acknowledged the teachers for their determination during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Your determination, dedication and passion towards your profession and duty became especially evident during one of the toughest times in our history as a nation – the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“You fostered our children at a time that caused them great stress and anxiety. You encouraged them, showed them love and affection and believed in them when they needed it the most,” she said.

Kumar encouraged the retirees by saying that they still have a lot to contribute to their communities and children after retirement.

“With your years of life experience, I think you know this more than me – life is full of amazing possibilities – go out there and carry on with the passion you have shown all these years,” she added.
