We are no longer ‘dark horses’: Matarugu

Fijiana Drua hooker Vika Matarugu says they are longer the ‘dark horses’ in Super W and all teams will be out to topple them in the new season.

Matarugu said every team knows what type of game the Rooster Chicken sponsored side bought to the table and would be eager to settle the score.

“We were very much unknown last year, this time around, the Australian teams will be ready for us,” Matarugu said.

“We definitely surprised a lot of teams with our fitness and our gameplan, so defending that title will definitely not be easier.

Matarugu said what would add more fire their campaign was knowning they get to play at home.

“Of course playing at home means we have more to play for, and definitely we will show our fans what we are about.”

The 2022 Super W season kicks off in April.
