Mixed messages were circulating on social media following Fiji Sports Council’s (FSC) recent announcement that it would charge $500 for games village spaces during the Coca-Cola Fiji Finals.
Critics quickly took to FSC’s social media page to express their concerns, leading to further clarification from the council.
The FSC explained that the $500 fee would only apply to schools that do not have tents and require scaffolding-constructed spaces designed to protect students’ belongings from adverse weather conditions.
For schools bringing their own tents, securing a space at Buckhurst Park will be free of charge.
The FSC also assured that there are additional spaces available for schools with a larger number of athletes, with fees based on the size of the tents.
