AG to meet Chief Justice Kumar

The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Siromi Turaga, says he will meet with Chief Justice, Kamal Kumar today.

In a press conference this morning, Turaga said this would the first of a series of meetings, he hopes to have with the Chief Justice.

The AG said he could not divulge any other information with regard to their meeting.

Turaga said it was important to maintain impartiality of both the offices of the Attorney-General and the Chief Justice and not to be seen as he was interfering in the work of the Judiciary.

“My role is to ensure that laws are put in place, vetted, pushed to Cabinet and then to Parliament,” Turaga said.
