IHG Fiji Hotels switch to bamboo key cards

FNPF-owned IHG Fiji Hotels, comprising InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva are introducing new, eco-friendly bamboo key cards.

Instead of the usual plastic key cards that are synonymous with hotels worldwide, guests will now get a pleasant surprise on arrival with a sustainable bamboo alternative.

It is a simple but impactful contribution towards the FNPF-owned IHG Fiji Hotels’ commitment to minimising plastic waste.

By switching to bamboo key cards, the three Fiji hotels will save approximately 20,000 plastic cards from reaching landfills each year.

This shift aligns with IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow 10-year action plan, involving all IHG Hotels & Resorts in more than 100 countries around the world.

“Our move from plastic to bamboo key cards is a small but meaningful step towards realizing our ambitious sustainability goals, which are outlined in IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow plan,” commented Lachlan Walker, Portfolio General Manager – IHG Hotels & Resorts, FNPF Owned Hotels.

“Every day we try to uncover new ways to minimise our impact on the environment and become a more responsible business operator. I am proud of the progress we are making through initiatives such as this, which invest in the protection of our oceans and community.”
