Karan to compete in four events

Fiji’s champion long-distance runner, Yeshnil Karan will be competing in four key events at the 2024 Oceania Athletics Championships in June at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium.

His events include 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, 5000m, and 10,000m.

The upcoming track and field events will feature several competitions with numerous Team Fiji athletes participating in different categories in the senior division.

In the sprint events, the 100m race includes competitors Waisake Tewa, Joshua Daudravuni, Penaia Ramasirai, and Kesaia Boletakanakadavu.

The 200m race will see Kesaia Boletakanakadavu, Joana Vakasobuduru, Waisake Tewa, Jonacani Koroi, and Joshua Daudravuni competing.

For the 400m, athletes such as Melania Turaga, Vilorina Tuilawaki, Ilisavani Radovu, Samuela Railoa, and Jonacani Koroi will be participating.

Middle-distance races will include the 800m with Vishant Reddy, Sailasa Moala, Iowane Vianny, Yeshnil Karan, and Ama Masau.

The 3000m steeplechase will feature Fulori Masau, Yeshnil Karan, Evueli Toia, and Vilorina Tuilawaki.

Long-distance events include the 5000m with competitors Sidhant Singh, Fulori Masau, and the 10,000m and Half Marathon by Avishek Kumar and Avikash Lal.

Field events will showcase a range of talents with Lorima Tabaiwalu, Francis Kaiava, and Malakai Kaiwalu in the High Jump; Waisele Inoke and Joana Vakasobuduru in the Long Jump.

Waisele Inoke will also participate in the Triple Jump.

The Shot Put will feature Ratu Mua Cavuilati and Tarairi Erasito, while the Discus Throw includes Setareki Matau, Maurea Konrote, Kautane Erasito, Reapi Vunidakua, Tarairi Erasito, Lusiana Qionikorolevu, Jone Tikoisuva, and Jone Seru.

Javelin Throw competitors include Manoah Sorovakatini.

Additionally, the Hammer Throw will be contested by Faith Bulai, and the multi-event competitions will see Joana Vakasobuduru and Waisele Inoke competing in both the Heptathlon and Decathlon.
