Jailed former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will remain the Leader of the FijiFirst Party.
This was highlighted by one of the founding members of the Party, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during a media conference in Suva this afternoon.
Sayed-Khaiyum said this would practically work well for Bainimarama and be guided by the Party Constitution.
He said that senior members of the Party met yesterday and they are not focused on Bainimarama’s incarceration.
“Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama remains the Party Leader.”
“Nothing changes within the Party, and we will continue to liaise with our Leader even though he may be in custody.”
Meanwhile, Bainimarama and Qiliho were sentenced to 12 months and 24 months respectively by the Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo earlier today.
