Talacolo to miss Coral Coast 7s

Lanky Fiji 7s forward Joseva Talacolo will miss this year’s McDonald’s Coral Coast Sevens.

Talacolo was injured during the Cape Town 7s and is still undergoing rehabilitation.

Police Blue Head Coach Sale Tubuna said it has been a slow start to preparations for the side after coming back from a hectic operations period.

“We just started last week, coming off the back of a very long operations period prior and during the 2022 General Election and the holiday season,” Tubuna said.

“Most of our players, have been off the pitch and involved with operations for eight weeks.

“Hopefully we can get our systems in place, evaluate and analyse ourselves and field a formidable team next week.

Being drawn in a pool which consists of Wardens, McDonald’s Saunaka and Yamacia, Tubuna said they have powerful opponents who can easily pull off upsets.

“We are locked in one of the strong pools, it will be an interesting match, but we will look to ensure that we get our programs right.

Former Fiji 7s players Suliano Volivoli, Apenisa Cakaubalavu and Livai Ikanikoda are currently training with the side with Waisea Nacuqu and Filipe Sauturaga expected to join later after training with the national squad.
